British lady friends…. Please help my colleague by participating in her doctoral research. Below is some information.
Feminist Perspectives on the Legal Recognition of Polygamy in English Law
I am looking to interview women who fall under the following categories on their ideas, attitudes and experiences (whether direct or indirect) of polygamy and the law:
(i) Pakistani women in polygamous marriages living in the UK
(ii) British Pakistani women
(iii) British women of different ethnic origins
These interviews will form part of my doctoral research project which is exploring the effectiveness of the UK’s legal definitions of marriage and polygamy.
What does participation entail?
This stage of the project will require you to participate in an interview with me. The interview will last for approximately one hour, although it may take longer depending on how much you say. The questions will relate to matters such as your ideas on the current legal definitions of marriage and polygamy, your opinions on gender equality in Islamic polygamy and your thoughts on the role of religion and culture regarding marriage and polygamy.
What are the benefits of taking part?
This project will allow you to express your views, attitudes and experiences of polygamy in the UK’s legal system. Your views will be of great significance to the researcher’s discussion and analysis on whether the UK’s law on polygamy needs reforming.
Who will have access to my information?
Your anonymity will be protected at all times, both during and after this project. Any personal information which identifies you will not be shared.
For further information/ questions who do I contact?
If you have any further questions or are interested in taking part, please contact Zainab Naqvi by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to hearing from you
